Cold Drawing

Drawing takes place in a draw bench and the principle is simple. The cold-rolled tube (the hollow for redrawing) is pulled through the hole of a die; see figure below. This hole is smaller in diameter than the tube, with the result that the tube diameter will be reduced. When the wall thickness also needs to be reduced , a mandrel is inserted into the tube. The wall thickness is determined by the difference in diameter between die and mandrel.
